In Japan, a round tray is used to serve sushi. In the past, people served sushi on a lid of a lacquered box. The lid was flat and rather small, so it was not suitable for serving sushi for more than two or three persons at one time. The sushi tray is used in the same way as the lid of the lacquered box.

- Remove excess foods with a damp cloth that has been rinsed in warm soapy water.
- Towel try and stack in a dry ventilated area.
- Do immerse in water or allow pools of water accumulate in wooden products.
- Stubborn stains, mix a small amount of salt or baking soda into the damp cloth and gently clean the surface.
