The Seigaiha ancestral pattern on this Seigaiha (Blue Ocean Wave) Bento Lunch Bags is a geometric design with a water theme that translates to “blue ocean waves.” It was inspired by the fan-shaped waves of the open sea. The phrase stems from the old court dance Seigaiha gagaku, in which the dancers dress in this pattern. There is a scene in The Tale of Genji where Genji dances the Seigaiha. The pattern of concentric arches looks like stylised waves and is made out of a series of arches or scales constructed of overlapping concentric circles.
