How To Drink Sake From a Masu with sake glass
There are no specific rules for drinking Sake from a Masu with a glass inside however there are several trendy drinking techniques used by a large number of Japanese sake drinkers.
- Take the initial sip from the glass, leaving the glass on the table.
- Drink from the glass while holding it up with your right hand and it with your left.
- The Masu should be placed just beneath the glass to catch any drippings from the bottom of the glass.
- Once the glass is empty, pour the remaining Sake into it.
Replace the glass within the Masu, just like you would a coaster.
- Alternatively, once the glass is empty, you can drink the leftover Sake from Masu.
How to drink Sake Stright From Sake Masu Cups
There is a protocol for drinking from it straight from the Sake Masu Cups, particularly on special or celebratory occasions.
