This Two Tier Jubako is evidence of the time-honored craftsmanship that has been honed and perfected over the course of several generations. Each individual piece of wood is hand-cut and shaped to create the two-tiered design of the box. The wood that is used to construct the box has been meticulously chosen for its durability and aesthetic appeal. After that, a natural lacquer is applied to the wood so that it can better display its inherent grain and warmth.

Finishing the Jubako bento box with a semi-gloss Urushi Lacquer process is a technique that originated in Japan thousands of years ago and involves applying layers of lacquer made from the sap of the Urushi tree, which is native to South East Asia. This technique was used to achieve a semi-gloss finish. After allowing each layer to dry completely before moving on to the next, the final product is a smooth, long-lasting finish that is resistant to scratches as well as other types of wear and tear.

This labor-intensive process calls for a great deal of skill and patience, in addition to an in-depth knowledge of the characteristics of urushi lacquer. The end product is a stunning Jubako bento box that has been crafted by hand and will last for many years to come.
